The One Thing I Need to Start Doing Every Day to Reach My Goals
I don't know about you, but I tend to get caught up.
I get caught up in the rigmarole, in the detail, in the clutter, and in the big picture. I have goals, like all of us do. And I generally know the steps I need to take to reach those goals.
But I get so caught up in the details of every step and stage that I overwhelm myself! I tell myself I need to do X, Y, and Z more quickly, or that I need more output, or more discipline.
I get so caught up in the idea that I need to do more, that I neglect to focus fully on the task at hand and on doing my best work today. That's not helpful!
Truthfully, I need to do less.
To reach my goals (and to overcome this false sense of urgency), I need to start taking everything one baby step at a time.
When I try to focus on everything at one time, I do it all poorly, and I'm often worse for it! But if I break everything down into the smallest steps possible, and focus on just one of those small steps at a time, I'll be able to do each step well.
Over time, I'll be able to do those steps to the best of my ability, which will help me reach my goals faster!
But it all starts with focusing on the task at hand, with taking my time, and with doing that task to the best of my ability.
They say it takes 20 years to become an overnight success. What am I getting in a rush for?
I need to be better at taking things one small step at a time. If I can do the small things well, the rest will take care of itself!
